Our Wines
2022 Hanzell Chardonnay
An estate blend, sourced from thirty-two acres of our Ambassador’s 1953, Day, de Brye, Ramos & Zellerbach vineyard blocks all on rocky volcanic and clay-loam soils. Wente and Hanzell clones are planted primarily on St. George rootstock. The average vine age by volume is 34 years.
Bright, lacey and elevated notes of citrus zest, kumquat, pink grapefruit, key lime, white peach, honeysuckle, lemon verbena, cinnamon and crushed slate make a striking first impression. The palate mirrors the nose, offering green pear, yellow apple, honeydew and hints of hazelnut all carried on a lingering, juicy finish. The 2022 Hanzell Chardonnay will surely be a crowd favorite for decades to come.

2021 Hanzell Pinot Noir
An estate blend, sourced from twelve acres of our Ambassador’s 1953, de Brye, Maggie’s and Sessions vineyard blocks, all on rocky clay-loam soils, with an average vine age by volume of 27 years.
Lovely and lifted aromas of Bing cherry, Bergamot tea, cranberry, pomegranate, anise, worn leather, orange peel, forest floor and rose petal compel a taste. Mirroring the nose, the palate rewards with additional notes of wild strawberry, raspberry, blood orange and thyme stem, finishing long and bright. Absolutely beautiful to drink in its youth, the structural components also make this a great candidate for further cellaring.

2020 Hanzell Cabernet Sauvignon
An estate blend, sourced from two acres of our Zellerbach and de Brye vineyard blocks, all on rocky clay-loam soils, planted in 2012.
Complex and lovely on the nose, aromatic notes of blackberry, blueberry, cassis, anise, baking spices, worn leather and forest floor emanate. The palate reflects the complexity of the nose and brings forth raspberry, boysenberry, juicy dark plum and woodsy herbs. Eminently drinkable in its’ youth, the beautifully integrated yet structured tannins and balanced acidity offer plenty of structure to make this a wine worthy of aging for years to come.

2020 Hanzell Chardonnay, Ambassador’s 1953 Vineyard
Only seventy-five cases produced from within our original two acre vineyard block planted by Ambassador Zellerbach in 1953.
With time in the glass, the intriguing aromatic layers of lemon oil, honeysuckle, yellow apple, lemon verbena and Douglas Fir unfold. Elegantly textured, the lifted flavors of Meyer lemon, lemon thyme, citrus blooms, kumquat and wet stone complement the aromatics. Long and ethereal on the finish, the complexity and quality of old vine fruit is apparent. We recommend an hour or two in the decanter to enjoy now. Also, make room to hide a few bottles away and watch this wine blossom for many years to come!

2021 Hanzell Pinot Noir,
Ambassador’s 1953 Vineyard
Only fifty cases produced from within our original two acre vineyard block planted by Ambassador Zellerbach in 1953.
The nose exudes notes of strawberry, red cherry, watermelon, forest floor, thyme and graham cracker. With additional flavors of pomegranate, raspberry, cherry tobacco and anise, the elegant, well-knit palate of this Ambassador’s 1953 vineyard block Pinot Noir is complex and long and will certainly cellar for decades. With just over one ton harvested in 2021, only fifty cases were produced.

2022 Hanzell “Sebella” Chardonnay
Hanzell “Sebella” is crafted from the younger within our Day and Zellerbach vineyard blocks with an average vine age by volume of 14 years. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in neutral French oak barrels for six months, Hanzell “Sebella” captures our classic minerality, bright fruit, and signature aroma of Chardonnay flowers in bloom.
Sunny floral aromas of honeysuckle and jasmine complement the juicy nectarine, Meyer lemon, yellow apple, honey, and mineral notes. Bright and balanced on the palate, flavors of lemon meringue, pear, brioche, and graham cracker marry with the aromas and carry on through a long, delicious finish.

2022 Hanzell “Sebella” Pinot Noir
We work in partnership with like-minded growers along the sonoma coast to craft a wine of intense fruit complexity, depth and structure, mirroring the age-worthy wines of the hanzell estate.
Intriguing and mouthwatering aromas of pomegranate, Bing cherry, cranberry, wild blueberry, tangerine, cherry tobacco, Daikon radish and redwood forest floor emanate from the glass. Dense in flavor, the palate meets all expectations with additional notes of blood orange and kumquat carried on a lovely texture which is velvety, taut and lifted all at once. Fermented with 41% whole cluster, the 2022 Hanzell “Sebella” Pinot Noir finish is long, juicy and simply delicious.
