An estate blend, sourced from twelve acres of our Ambassador’s 1953, de Brye and Sessions vineyard blocks, all on rocky clay-loam soils, with an average vine age of nearly 30 years.
We occasionally offer special Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs, to represent specific vineyard components of our flagship Pinot Noir, of which only a very limited amount are bottled.
Since our first vintage in 1957, we have learned that the wines produced from our estate tend to offer consistent flavor profiles and development year over year. This Drinking Window illustration provides visual flavor profiles and is intended to help guide your decisions on when to open and drink one of our wines or hold them for the future. We encourage you to try our wines while young and through all the stages of evolution to find your own Hanzell “sweet spot”. This time period will be different for everyone but will remain fairly constant vintage to vintage.
